You’ve made the decision to sell your items through FBA and the time has come to send in your first shipment; so now what? If you currently ship items out to multiple vendors or customers the changes won’t be drastic and will certainly be something your warehouse can handle. If your company rarely engages in shipments or you are relatively new to the logistics world there could be some growing pains but the below guide should help.
Item Prep: The Requirements
All item must be received within a single, secure package. This can include a box or polybag.
Individual units must have UPC barcodes attached to them. If they do not you must attach a label provided by Amazon
Amazon will not accept items that have multiple parts shipped separately. If your item has multiple components you will need to ensure they are shipped within a single, secure package with a “Do Not Separate” sticker applied.
This also applies to any item being sold as a set (for example, a NASCAR set of six unique Hot Wheels cars, sold as one unit).
Boxed items must come in a six-sided box.
If your item is shipped in a polybag with a 5-inch opening a “Suffocation Warning” label must be applied.
There are additional requirements for other products such as glass or sharp objects which can be found by searching Seller Central.
Case Prep: The Requirements
Case Packaging
Boxes containing multiple standard-size items must not exceed 25" on any side. If a single item does not fit within these dimensions that is okay. This applies to smaller units being packed together.
Boxes containing multiple items weigh less than or equal to 50 lbs (boxes containing a single item may exceed 50 lbs.).
Boxes containing a single oversize item that weighs more than 50 lbs have “Team Lift” safety labels on the top and sides of the box.
Boxes containing a single oversize item that weighs more than 100 lbs have “Mechanical Lift” safety labels on the top and sides of the box.
Approved Dunnage
Approved dunnage includes foam, air pillows, bubble wrap, or full sheets of paper.
